The Suzuki Katana is a range of sport motorcycles that were first introduced by Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki in 1981. The Katana line is known for its sleek and aggressive styling that features a sharply angled front end, slim and aerodynamic bodywork, and large gas tank with an intricate pattern of lines.
The first Suzuki Katana was designed by German industrial designer Hans Muth and his team, which included Japanese motorcycle designer target='blank'>Target="_blank" rel="noopener">Target="_blank" rel="noopener">Giorgetto Giugiaro. The bike featured a 998cc, inline four-cylinder engine that produced 111 horsepower and 66 lb-ft of torque. It was a highly successful motorcycle on the racing circuit, winning numerous races and championships in the 1980s.
Over the years, Suzuki has updated and expanded the Katana line to include a variety of engine sizes and performance levels. The current Katana model, the GSX-S1000, was introduced in 2019 and features a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 999cc and produces 148 horsepower and 79 lb-ft of torque. It also incorporates modern technology such as LED lights and a full-color TFT display.
